Macarena is an educator and training consultant who specializes in finding innovative and sustainable ways to promote and develop emotional intelligence in children. Her overarching goal is to help with the professionalization of early childhood educators and their strict adherence to the Texas Minimum Standards. Her interests revolve mainly around encouraging the career development of early childhood educators and supporting career lattice that helps teachers progress. Since 2016, Macarena has been a speaker for El Valle Association, facilitating professional learning for early childhood practitioners and administrators.

During her 15 years in early childhood education, Macarena has had the opportunity to work with children of different ethnicities as well as a variety of professionals in the field of education; always finding new ways to improve in her personal and professional life by providing helpful insight into children’s necessities. Given the growing numbers of students whose maternal language is Spanish and her perspective as a foreign languages keen, she considers herself a strong advocate for multilingual education and play-based learning.
With more than 15 years of experience in the Finance field at a Corporate Enterprise and 15 years in earlychildhood education, an opportunity arose to become a part of the administration in a child learning center. Due to this, little by little her approach to life began changing and she started wanting to reach out to others, particularly innocent and vulnerable individuals as a means to improve living standards and lives. That is how Little School House Learning Center was founded in 2010, later following the introduction of 2 more learning centers. Her mission is to make a difference in our children’s lives.

Her centers are an educational place made to promote school readiness of children from infants till 12 years of age through developmentally appropriate practices and to foster school readiness programs as early as possible. Macarena is honored to have her centers certified as a Texas Rising Stars, a quality rating and improvement system for Texas early childhood programs. She understands that early learning programs that voluntarily achieve Texas Rising Star certification, offering quality care that exceeds the Texas Health and Human Services Commission Child Care Regulation minimum standards, are now in a better position to positively affect the physical, social-emotional, and cognitive development of children.
